    Vision Statement:
St. Mary's Primary strives to be a welcoming Christ-centred learning community that promotes a quality holistic
education and trusting relationships in a caring and supportive environment.

Acknowledgment of Country:  We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wiradjuri people, who, long before us, lived, loved, educated and raised their children on this site.  We pay our respects to elders past and present, and we recognise the young people who are our future.  We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in our community.  We respect their deep physical and spiritual connections to the country through their stories traditions and living cultures.

    Character Virtue:  J U D G E M E N T
Judgement is a gift of the Holy Spirit and it allows us to make wise and practical decisions, rather than being swayed by emotion or bias.  Judgement also helps you make the right choice to live as a faithful follower of Jesus and judge between good and evil, then act accordingly.  It means critically thinking about a situation rather than blindly accepting everything we're told.

    From the Principal

    Mr Luke Wilson
    Principal

    Dear Parents,

    Welcome to Week 7.
Congratulations to Mrs Cowell and our Ukulele group, as well as our Year 2 and Year 4 teachers and students for their outstanding performances at the Eisteddfod.  A first and two seconds is a great start to our Eisteddfod season. This week, we have our Kinder Nursery Rhymes, Year 3 Signing, and Year 1 and Year 6 Dance performances.

Wednesday Bus Travel - On Wednesdays, several students use the Duck bus to attend afternoon football training for St. John’s Rugby League.  All students using this bus need a bus pass; those without a pass will need to pay the $1.10 fare.

Kindergarten Interviews 2025 - Enrolment interviews for younger brothers and sisters of current students who will be starting Kindergarten next year are in the last week (1st July to 5th July) of this term.
Please phone the school office to book an appointment for your child.

Medical - If your child has identified as having a medical condition or Asthma, as per CEDB Policy, paperwork needs to be updated annually and returned to St. Mary's.
Please Note:  Students diagnosed with Asthma need a puffer and spacer kept in the Sick Bay and a puffer in their school bag.  It is the responsibility of the parent to update their child's medication or puffers, once expired.  Please advise the school office if your child needs to be removed from the 2024 Medical Register.

    ICAS

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION AND ASSESSMENTS FOR SCHOOLS (ICAS)

Students who have a particular talent in a specific area relevant to the subject nominated in the International Competition are invited to participate in the 2024 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS), which will be held next term. Competitions are offered in English, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Digital Technology and Spelling.

ICAS Assessments are now online, a move that reflects a sector-wide transition to computer-based assessment.  This allows greater accessibility for students and faster delivery of results.

Please Note:  Years 3 to 6 students who have a talent in the relevant Key Learning Area are eligible to enter.

We do not promote these competitions as a relevant means of diagnosing and assessing students who do not display a high degree of ability.  The content of these competitions does not always reflect our curriculum.  We would only encourage students that have the ability to work at a high level of competence in these particular KLA’s.

    Attendance

When students attend school consistently, they have more opportunities to develop and maintain positive friendships.

Regular attendance in secondary school provides the consistency and continuity necessary for students to develop, nurture, and maintain positive friendships. These friendships contribute not only to the social aspects of secondary school but also to the overall wellbeing and personal growth.

Consistent Presence in Social Settings. Regular attendance ensures that students are consistently present in school, providing them with ample opportunities to engage in social settings. Daily interactions with peers in classrooms, hallways, and common areas foster the development of friendships.

Building Trust and Reliability. Consistent attendance contributes to building trust and reliability among peers. Being present regularly shows a commitment to friendships and helps establish a sense of dependability and mutual support.

Consistent Communication not Online. Regularly attending school allows for consistent face-to-face communication with peers. Students who are present daily can maintain ongoing conversations, share updates, and stay connected with the lives of their peers beyond social media.

Development of Social Skills. Engaging with peers on a daily basis face-to-face contributes to the development of essential social skills. These skills include communication, empathy, teamwork, and conflict resolution, which are valuable for building and maintaining positive friendships.

    PARTIAL ABSENCES:
Parents must attend the school office to use the Compass Kiosk to complete a PARENT DROP-OFF or PARENT PICK-UP if arriving late or leaving early.

    FULL DAY ABSENCES:
A Note should be submitted via Compass for a FULL DAY absence from school.
Reminder:  Parents to submit an attendance note within 7 days of absence.  Thank you.
